Paul Sheffield – International Event Rider
Ranked 39th in
the 2006 British
Eventing Rider Rankings, JP is renowned for producing top quality event
horses
such as Nova Top and Walkabout Creek, both of whom went on to compete
at the
Olympics.
JP first
represented Great Britain at the European
Championships at
Burghley in
1997 and is now a popular face on the International Eventing circuit. He runs a successful yard on the
Rolleston Estate, between
Leicester and Market Harborough,
and provides training
for a number of pupils, as well as schooling and successfully competing at all levels of
eventing with a yard of great prospects from novice to CCI**** ready
for this
season.
Previously he has won and been placed
at many major three day events
such as 12th at Blenheim CCI*** on Catch the Tiger, 4th
and 7th at Windsor CCI** on Riverside James and Brown Bear
and 1st
and 2nd at Dartfield CCI** on Too Bahru and Brown Bear.
In 2006 he finished the season with a
fantastic result winning both the CCI* and CCI** at Necarne Castle in
Ireland riding Brooke Cleave's Westwinds Bravado and Angela Hislop's
Riverside James.
Famous names such as
Burghley winner Mr
Smiffy have been brought out by JP and as a BHSII and BE Accredited
trainer he
is a much respected rider.
JP started
riding at South Leicestershire Riding Establishment when he was just 6
years old, and became
stable jockey for the establishment when he left school. At 18 years of
age he
became the youngest ever BHSII. He left SLRE in 1999 to set up his own
yard in Warwickshire, before moving to his current yard in 2006.
